Letter to our Community - Online Services

Dear Newfound Area Community,

The Minot-Sleeper Library staff and trustees are hopeful that all in our community are weathering the upheaval that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused for all of us. We also want to provide an update on library services.

Over the past two weeks the library's operations have evolved as we learn more about the situation we are in. When we first closed our doors, we were still emptying the book drop and disinfecting for possible re-circulation; we put donated books outside our front entrance for the community to take. Due to the continued and increased severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adjusted our services to ensure our community members and staff are healthy and safe. The staff will not be in the library during normal hours. We are no longer accepting returns and we are no longer having staff go to the library to put free books outside. Please hold on to any library materials you have until the library reopens. This doesn't mean our service to the community has come to a standstill. In fact, just the opposite.

Governor Chris Sununu has issued a stay-at-home order, with all non-essential businesses closing by end of day Friday, March 27. The library is creating new ways to deliver informational, educational, and cultural resources. We have started posting story time videos on Facebook and on our website, we are hosting community conversations through virtual meet-ups, we have compiled a list of ways to travel to museums, national parks, and art galleries from a computer. Information on how to access these resources can be found at minotsleeperlibrary.org. We will be offering much more of this type of service and diversifying it in the next couple of weeks. Even though we will be at our own homes, library staff will continue to be a friendly and helpful voice when you call the library at 603-744-3352 during our normal hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10am-6pm; Tuesday and Thursday 1-8pm; and Saturday 10am-2pm.

The library staff is here for each and every person in our community. We hope you will reach out to us and find the online services of value. If there is something you would like us to offer that we are not already, please send me an email at librarian@townofbristolnh.org or call 603-744-3352. To keep up to date on the library's current offerings, please check our website: minotsleeperlibrary.org, follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/minotsleeperlibrary and check the Town of Bristol's COVID-19 updates: https://www.townofbristolnh.org/home/news/covid-19-updates-resources-community-members.

Sincerely,
Brittany Overton

Letter to our Community - Closing due to COVID-19

To those in the Newfound Area,

For the safety of our community and staff, all Minot-Sleeper Library programs and in-building services will be postponed until further notice. The library will continue to be open remotely, offering phone and Facebook Messenger assistance during its normal operating hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10am-6pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8pm; and Saturday from 10am-2pm.

The decision to close the library was a difficult one. The staff and trustees are aware that many in our community depend on the library for internet and computer access, printing and scanning services, access to health and other critical information, and numerous other services. The staff and trustees will continue to offer remote services, including technology help, sign-ups for library cards, getting started with e-books, downloadable audiobooks, digital magazines, and streaming videos free with your library card. Staff will also be available to assist callers and those sending in messages with finding up-to-date information about COVID-19 and impacts on our community.

The Newfound Area community is an incredible community that pulls together during good times and bad. We feel fortunate to be a part of this network and to be able to support all of you during this time of uncertainty. The staff, trustees, and I look forward to when we can reopen our doors. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff with any questions and comments you have.

Sincerely,
Brittany Overton
Director, Minot-Sleeper Library
