MINOT SLEEPER LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING MARCH 29, 2011 Members present: Wendy Costigan, Barbara Greenwood, Nathan Haselbauer, Glenn Dorr, George Corrette, Nancy Gavalis, Ann Fitzpatrick, Lucille Keegan and Sharon Waga. Absent: Karen Schaffner The meeting began with a review of the fundraising ideas that were discussed at the last meeting. George then introduced Eric Herr to offer suggestions for approaches we might pursue to solicit donations for a building fund. Hire a professional fundraiser Form a fund raising committee Generate a list of possible large donors NH Charitable Foundation grant to organize fundraising Glenn will pursue the grant from the NH Charitable Foundation for a fundraising consultant. Also present at the meeting was Selectman Rick Alpers, and Town Administrator Michael Capone . Rick offered the Select boards support to see the building project continue but said that the town has reached a turning point with numerous other building projects needing to be addressed. He suggested that the trustees take a new direction with the plan by changing the roof line. He also suggested that we talk with Keith McBay from Bonnette Page and Stone builders and architect Paul Murskee. Michale Capone will arrange for Keith McBay to attend the next meeting. Regular Business: Secretary’s report accepted. Treasurer’s report accepted: Librarian’s Report: Wayne from Maine is booked for end of summer reading program, August 17. Tom Hardy has looked at boiler room to install the sprinkler. Sharon will take care of Rural Development Grant for ADA bathroom. Derek wants the trash put out in the shed. Sharon will purchase a trash can with wheels There is 81% of the libraries town budget left Barbara reported that Matt Greenwood may have a small water heater for a minimal cost to replace the large one. Nathan has a list of contractors. Sharon said that we must receive sealed bids for a USDA project. Old Business: Charles Carr has the windows almost done but we may need to have an extension. beyond April 1. Nathan and Josh Steele checked the chimney. Nathan will get quotes for the work needed. New Business: Send picture of library to the NH Library Trustees Barbara suggested Sharon should look into a subscription to Ancestry.com Building Committee: Imperative that we establish a building committee separate from Trustees which would meet at a different time. Glenn asked about writing grants, Sharon can help Possible person at PSU to help with grant writing and fundraising Nancy will speak to Raymah Simpson regarding acquiring a list of taxpayers. Fundraising Committee: Duck Race: Everyone felt we should continue this event at the Old Home Day. Wendy will contact Debbie Gilbert for information. Barbara reported that Greg Gorski at Shop and Save may want to support this event. Wendy’s dad will make a large Cat in the Hat hat to chart our fundraising progress.
